  • What is Coaching

Coaching is a relationship which is designed and defined, collaboratively by the Client and Coach, and which is based on the Client’s expressed interests, objectives and goals.

The Coach uses focused discussion, questions and requests to assist the Client as they identify personal, professional, business, team or organizational goals, develop strategies and action plans intended to achieve such goals, and monitor progress towards implementation of the action plans.

The Client is responsible for their own achievements and success and the Coach cannot and does not promise that the Client will take any specific action or attain any specific goals. The Client enters into the Coaching Agreement with the understanding that the decision, control and responsibility to make any changes rest with you the client.

Coaching is different from counseling.

The objective of counseling is to help people address and resolve problems that make them feel bad emotionally, or are impairing their ability to function well. This can include healing from Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Trauma, issues with their family of origin, their relationships, ADHD, Addictions and many other common problems. It’s understood that unless and until these problems are resolved it will be difficult for people to make significant changes in their lives.

The objective of coaching is to help people achieve their goals. The basic presumption of coaching is that coaching clients are in a good place mentally and emotionally, and ready to receive guidance and instruction on how to make changes that will help them achieve their goals. The work focuses on creating and maintaining motivation for change, exploring obstacles to change, and creating plans for change.

Any issue that requires specific, special expertise, credentials or licenses will be referred. This may arise around legal, psychotherapy, medical, accounting, investment or tax issues. You understand I do not hold these credentials.
